Deal reached with first-time DUI charge for Jim Toth

In Orlando, Florida, while many might think a first driving under the influence offense is not something to worry about, the truth is that a first-time DUI will still end up being quite expensive and can come with it some rather serious consequences, including the suspension of one's driver's license.

However, for those facing a first-time DUI charge, or even a second or third, keep in mind that there are often deals that can be worked out.

Recently, a case involving Jim Toth, who is the husband of actress Reese Witherspoon, showed that there are cases where deals can be worked out. In his case, he was able to avoid some of the more severe consequences stemming from an April 19 arrest by pleading guilty to DUI. This plea resulted in multiple DUI counts and a failure to maintain lane charge being dropped.

In return for this DUI plea, Toth was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and a year of probation. He must also attend an alcohol education program.

His wife, Witherspoon, was ordered to pay a fine after pleading no contest to an obstruction of a person charge. This charge was related to her refusal to stay in the car at the time of her husband's arrest.

Those reading of the consequences from their arrests should know that these types of deals are not just made for the rich and famous. A criminal defense attorney with experience working with every day residents of Orlando can help to explore possible options.
